Sunitha Krishnan born in 1972 is a social activist and founder of Prajwala, an NGO that rescuses , rehabilitates and reintegrates sex-trafficked victims into society.

What made me choose Sunitha Krishnan is that she works at the grassroot level and once she rescues these victims, their life finds direction. The women then can educate their children and our concern about child education is taken care of. She played a pivotal role in 2003, Krishnan drafted recommendations for rehabilitation of victims of sex trafficking in Andhra Pradesh, which were passed by the State Government as a Policy for Rescue & Rehabilitation of Victims of Trafficking for commercial sexual exploitation.
The states of Karnataka, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, West Bengal, Uttar Pradesh, and Delhi are now taking cues from Krishnan’s strategies to bring in similar rescue policies.
Sunitha, herself being a victim of rape, strongly advocates her stand at various public appearances like a TedTalk Conference, Satyamev Jayate and not only manages to fund her NGO but also networks with business owners to provide jobs for survivors.
Sunitha has received various death threats and she moved base as her parents did not share the same ideas as hers. She has made several short films to spread awareness on her concerns.
Child education happens when the parent or parents are able to support the child during education. It all looks very simple on paper but the effort taken by people like Sunitha Krishnan, Kailash Satyarthi and many more social activists ensure that maximum children receive education.
