When is the right time?

Why do things happen at a particular time? Why do you say certain things at a particular time. It is most of the time (ha.. ha) at the right time. We feel that if we unwind time, we can change things, well Time Travel is close to proving that right. Herw I would like to discuss about when being the right time to do a particular action, be it a task, taking a decision or just not doing something.

  1. Now

Yes, Now is the right time to do a task that is to be done.Waiting, giving excuses, procrastinating are reasons. By now I mean if possible start, if not, start planning, or the least thinking about it. Let me give you an example, The minute you receive an invitation to attend a wedding, and decide you are going, all you think of is clothes to be worn for the mammoth occasion, then the tickets. Why? ? Because that’s where the enjoyment begins.

Similarly, when there is something you have to do start planning and eventually it would happen. But if you don’t want to do it, it doesn’t work out. It is basically because you didn’t put in the effort to do it, or plan it. Probably the least you did was to think how NOT to do it.

So, when is the right time? It is now, or never.

2. When there is deadline

Accept it, we have all gone through this, the date fixed which cannot be compromised is the deadline, if you know that it can be pushed, on would push the date with all might. That probably is because you are not very interested or you have other priorities or you consider yourself a Pro at the task.

But advice, why wait for the last minute? is an every-ready statement when another person delays or complains.

If majority of the crowd pushes the deadline, the deadline comes back alive in the form of rejection and re-working on the same project. That is also the reason so many pitches go unheard or not appreciated.

The next time you have a task, work towards it with greater speed, and that is the right time to complete it.

3. Before Time

The best example of before time is the making of YouTube videos by certain YouTubers whose work was viewed during the lockdown, be it cooking videos, educational videos, comic content or just about anything that had the right combination of music and dialogues.

When something brews, get about it and start it. Bitcons and Cryptocurrencies were buzzwords once upon not a long time back. When things are new, you would also get genuine and select information about it, but when it is all over, the sheen gets duller.

Beginning something before time will undergo many changes but that is called exploring all possibilities, because when you are closer to the deadline, all you want to do is submit

The only reason for time is so that everything doesn’t happen for once

Where am I?

Where am I? I am here and so are you? Why are we here? Where are you? You are where you are supposed to be. You will reach where you are destined to. After trying to discover who am I (in my previous post https://apprendre24.wordpress.com/2021/08/08/who-am-i/ ) , here I am trying to decipher where am I, despite having my address on the Adhaar card, I can still question my humble soul about its domicile. Let’s do it!

If everything was in our hands, we would have been on Space – X with Musk. Chuckle 😉

  1. The Marriage

I need to address (pun intended) the concept of marriage here, where there is a change of place for most women who go on to stay with their in-laws (of course, the trend is changing now, a little better than ever), a complete change of scene where she is a new-comer rebooting her life. A fact that I never-ever understood! Why??

But as one reaches the marriageable age, things are different, sometimes all some young ladies want is a break, and this is the perfect one (with a hubby and a Honey-Moon, not mentioning the laws that have to be abided by.. ha ha!!)

I choose to believe that a married spouse is filled with strength and can re-start over again, and the laws 😉 need a change in life-style, and therein enters the spouse stirring various emotions leading to a mush-required change. The spouse is at the right place at the right time to put the house in order!!

Note: In earlier times, I would have typed the lady instead of spouse. With changing times, lets change our vocabulary.

2. Education

This comes way before marriage; now it is more of a personal choice after School, but earlier the Hostel or Boarding school were dreaded phrases.

The education received outside the house is real and stays with you. At home, everything is taken for granted. If you went away from home to study, your have learnt life skills with education. Lucky you!

Where am I? If you are at a place that you aren’t happy, consider it a learning experience, if you are at a place that is difficult to adapt to, be it the heat, the cold, the vibes, the aura or the ambiance, try moving around things to get comfortable. I can vouch for this. Why are you in a particular place? You would know that after you leave it!

3. Your choice

Where are you? Not by luck or marriage or work, but by choice. If you are the person who made a choice and got to go there, kudos to you. You stay there irrespective whether you like it or not, YOU STAY PUT, because it is your choice.

Also your choice is through a conviction that you have very strongly stood by. The choice is always yours!!

In my opinion, where you are is the right place as of now, but if you feel the need to change, do it, however difficult.

Who am I?

An identity is something we all live with. With each passing day, our priorities change, our personality changes, we change. There is always an urge to improve, to be perform better, to set higher standards. Does this affect who we are? Does it change our identity? Does it change who we are? Or does it push us to who we actually are? The existentialism approach or the identity crisis?

There comes a point in one’s life that this question pops up and we also wonder if it is a right question, because we already have a name, a date of birth, an address, a nationality. The question totally shatters our world when we dig deep into ourselves, but this is the only way to achieve an identity, to find the essence of life and remain content with it.

Quite often we meet people and comment later “Look, how much she/he has changed.” Change is so visible and not accepted easily that people also think twice before changing any aspect of their life if they need to answer the question who she/he is?

I have identified 3 phases of life where one usually questions oneself

  1. While making a career choice.
  2. When someone says the truth about you.
  3. When you meet a larger than life personality in person.

1. While making a career choice.

Who are you and what do you want to do with that information is strongly felt while choosing a career.

An identity is different from one’s character and personal choice. A career must being money and happiness. only if the true you chooses it, it is worth the effort. Thinking of who you are helps you identify your career.

What do you want to do? is a constantly asked question, and a strong one. The answer is sometimes straightforward, sometimes dodged. Adolescents find it difficult to deal with because they are still figuring themselves. Children, on the other hand promptly answer as they do not fear judgement. This judgement is one of the major causes of not finding the real you.

2. When someone says the truth about you

An argument, a fight, a deep conversation contain revelations. Pay strong attention to the words more than the tone. They contain profound observations. If you are hurt, it is usually because you are not able to accept the reality of the situation, and that drives home certain aspects of your personality or character you weren’t aware of.

We are all aware of our hard truths, accept it. That is the only way out. Trying to change who we are is an act. And remember, acting can be stressful.

In certain situations yes, one needs to act, but

Who we are and what we portray are sometimes contrary based on the situation, and that is being smart. But in the bargain, don’t lose the real you, because it would eventually show up.

3. When you meet a larger than life personality in person.

Meeting a larger than life personality like a sportsperson, scientist, author is an experience in itself. We want to know the real them, and are always eager to meet them in person. Why?? Because you think that they are different, that they are successful, that they are blessed, that they have an extra sparkle in their eye.

When you meet them, you feel you have met the real them. That brings in different emotions also questioning who you are, and why can’t you achieve such a larger than life personality. The environment around us triggers question on our existence.

In The Problem of Method, Sartre redefines the focus of existentialism as the individual understood as belonging to a certain social situation, but not totally determined by it. For the individual is always going beyond what is given, with his own aims and projects. https://iep.utm.edu/sartre-ex/#H5

In my understanding, Who we are depends on the social situation Or environment we are in. And a person will always go beyond what is epected from him with his own aims and goals.
