Fear of the unknown enemy or the corona virus. I make it a point not to write c in capitals for corona virus, I don’t want to give it that status. Statistics are disheartening and looking up official websites always ends with an Oh My God. America is going through a very difficult time.
I finally decided to continue watching series that I hadn’t completed. The Family Man on Amazon Prime Originals. The way the Protagonist, Srikant Tiwari (Manoj Bajpayee), talks to his son, hardly takes up any screen time compare to his ordeals in trying to save the country, leaves me asking for more such conversations. Manoj Bajpayee has a flair for performance and acting comes naturally to him. Also I wonder what’s with the different musical instruments his son is apparently attracted to.
On the work front, acceptance of WFH is building bridges rather than waiting for the Government with further notification. Friends and Family are seen interacting more than usual on the groups. At one point, the messages on Whats App are so frequent that you can be up-to-date without turning on the Television.
Television, reminding me of the telecast of Ramayan and Mahabharat. A well-thought initiative by the Government to keep the Indians occupied at home and reaching out to citizens who don’t have access to the internet. I recently watched an episode where the main actors of Ramayan were invited to The Kapil Sharma Show. They mentioned that they were shooting in remote areas for over 40-45 days, were unaware of the gravity of their screen presence, only to realize it when they returned to the city to find people giving them a Demi-God welcome.
Mahabharat, I had the opportunity of watching it a couple of years after its telecast. My Uncle’s family had recorded all the episodes on video cassettes and I watched it during the vacation. 3 episodes on each tape. Krishna and Dropathi are mesmerizing. Bheeshma is magnanimous. I cried when Abhimanyu was tricked and taken down by the Kauravas.
I am eager to know how the readers of Devdutt Pattanaik’s books on these epics connect to the happenings that unfold everyday on their Television. I listen to his show as a Podcast on Spotify and his speed of speech amazes me.
Hoping that the invisible enemy becomes non-existent, let us pray for a less-eventful week for our medical fraternity.
